For any number of reasons, you might not be able to have an in-person viewing of a property you’re considering. In those situations, what are your options?
Here are some ideas:
- Google Maps. Turn on the satellite feature and you’ll get a bird’s-eye view of the property and neighborhood.
- Property descriptions. Listing information on the property can give you numerous insights, including size, number of rooms, special features, and more. In addition, you can also get neighborhood characteristics, such as type of street and local demographics.
- Pictures and videos. Most property listings include pictures, some with dynamic views (where, for example, you can zoom in and around a room). Some listings also include video walk-throughs, which can really help you get a sense of the property.
- Guided tours via web conferencing. Online meeting apps like ZOOM make it possible to get a guided tour of the property where you can direct attention to certain areas and features and ask questions.
Nothing can fully replace the advantages of seeing a property in person. But, with these options, you can get pretty close!
