Let’s Find Your Dream Home in Holland, Ohio
Holland, located in Northwest Ohio, is in the heart of the western suburbs of Lucas County, adjacent to Toledo. Located in close proximity to the major metro areas of the Midwest, Holland is just one hour south of Detroit, two hours west of Cleveland and four hours east of Chicago.
The Village was founded in 1847 when Robert Clark and his wife Sylvia Wentworth moved their family west from Maine. The Village was formally named in 1867 and was incorporated in 1923. The census taken after incorporation listed a total population of 503. According to Census 2000 figures, the Village has grown to 1,306 residents over those 77 years. Several businesses were the backbone of the industrial transition for the Village including the first merchandising business founded in 1862, a blacksmith shop, Vesey’s General Store, Lormer Hardware and Schemenour’s. Today the Village is home to over 125 manufacturing, retail and service oriented businesses.
The Village is bounded by Angola Road to the north, the Wexford subdivision to the south, Holloway road to the west and the I 4-75/US 23 expressway to the east. Small town does not mean small services. The Village offers all the municipal services of a larger community without additional assessments. The Springfield Local Schools serve the educational needs of the Village.
The Village is located close to all forms of transportation. US 23 is directly adjacent to our Business Center for easy access to I75, the Ohio Turnpike has an interchange just three miles west across the street from Toledo Express Airport. Norfolk Southern operates a double track main line which today carries 90 trains. The first train to ever pass through Holland was on May 22, 1852. A depot was located south of the tracks near Holloway Road. The Village is currently working with Springfield Township to develop an historical rail park in this same area. A caboose has already been purchased for the park.
Being a small town adjacent to a larger community offers our residents and businesses many amenities with out the hassle of a big city. We like to think of our Village as a perfect blend of business and community.
